General guidance, not a fatwa

First Adhān gives general guidance on the Sunnah of a baby’s first days. It is not a fatwa, and it is not medical advice. Where the schools differ, ask your imam which view to follow. For anything about the health of a mother or baby, follow your doctor, midwife or nurse.

The tools

The seventh-day dates are calculated; Hijri dates follow the Umm al-Qurā calendar, and your community’s month may begin a day either side by moon sighting. The silver calculator uses the price you enter; it does not know today’s price. Check the results before you rely on them.

Meanings are taken from the sources cited on each name’s page. Spellings in English vary; the Arabic shows the name itself.
