  • الاسْتِعْفاف: طلَبُ العَفَافِ وَهُوَ الكَفُّ عَنِ الْحَرَامِ وَالسُّؤَالِ مِنَ النَّاسِ، أَي مَنْ طَلَبَ العِفّة وتكلَّفها أَعطاه اللَّهُ إِيَّاهَا، وَقِيلَ: الاسْتِعْفَاف الصبْر والنَّزاهة عَنِ الشَّيْءِ
